Baby Bernie's Baptism
“Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God” (Luke 18:16). When I think of God’s love for his children, I cannot help but think about the tenderness of a father. A good father is loving, protective, dependable, patient, and a great role model. A father tends to help pave the way for their children without recognition or affirmation. This type of love survives generations and surpasses all understanding and I believe that this is the type of love that I’ve witnessed in the Conrad and Thomas family. There is nothing more precious than a mother watching her husband help lead their family in Christ. "Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children. "Children are a heritage of the Lord". (Psalm 127:3)
On December 30th, 2023, Alexander Bernard Conrad was dedicated to the Lord at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. The room was filled with some of the closest family members and friends. One moment that was monumental to me was when I was handed a picture of Jacob, Bernie’s father. It was a picture of him as a young boy being dedicated to the Lord. His dad held him in the same profound gratification that Jacob held Bernie. This was one of the most beautiful depictions of a father’s love for his child.
