Our Wedding Anniversary

Locking eyes. Intensely processing thoughts of interest and curiosity. I met Alfred for the first time on June 22nd, 2012. That night, upon our initial encounter, Alfred stood in front of me with such great confidence. This was something that I found incredibly attractive. His posture was tall. His eyes were soft and gentle. His gaze and presence made me feel safe and protected. My mind didn’t recognize the need for a haven at the time, but my heart and soul knew otherwise. I was truly mesmerized! That night, after Alfred and I’s initial encounter, moments later, I called my mother and told her that I had found my husband.

10 years later, we are now celebrating our fourth wedding anniversary. Celebrating our love is one of the most beautiful things that we get the pleasure of doing. This covenant has been so exciting and what a blessing that is. As we celebrate our love, I cannot help but think about the meaning of the fourth year of marriage. The fourth year is meant to represent the blossoming of our relationship and the beauty that comes with sticking by one another’s side through thick and thin. I am thankful that our relationship embodies that statement so well. “So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13.

Alfred,

You are my rock! Your commitment to scheduling date nights, attending budget meetings, having difficult conversations, being puppy parents, and exercising even when we are exhausted, is so inspiring. I am grateful that after all these years, I am still so smitten with you. Alfred, I am lucky that I get to call you, my husband. You are and will always remain my generous, confident, intelligent, chivalrous man.

Happy fourth anniversary, my love! I love you!
